Jwaneng miner found dead after collapse of mine

A miner who was trapped inside the motor vehicle that he was driving when a wall collapsed at Jwaneng Mine last week was found dead on Saturday night.
The rescuers had to resort to cutting the vehicle in-order to remove his body as the mission was very delicate and dangerous.
The mine management has not yet decided when the production will resume as it was suspended soon after the collapse.
Information passed to The Telegraph suggests that the rescue mission was very dangerous and took more than twelve hours trying to map out the best possible ways to carry out the rescue without losing the lives of the rescuers.
The rescuers resorted to cutting apart the motor vehicle that the miner was trapped in so as to be able to remove him.
It has been revealed that the body of the deceased was partially decomposed.
The deceased had worked hardly two months for the mine.
In a brief interview with The Telegraph this week, Debswana spokesperson, Ester Kanaimba-Senai, confirmed the death and revealed the name of the dead miner as Motshwari Raseiteo from Bray in the Kgalagadi District.
Kanaimba-Senai further stated that mine production has currently been suspended until further notice.
“I am not yet sure when production will start again as the investigation is under way to determine the cause of the collapse,” she said.
The wall collapsed last week on Friday and fifteen workers escaped death when they were rescued. Although not injured, the fifteen are still under observation at Jwaneng Mine Hospital, receiving counseling.
