Alexis Golovin to stage Concert Gaborone

L’Alliance Fran├ºaise de Gaborone, in co-operation with Embassy of France and Maitisong, present an international classical pianist, Alexis Golovin.

While touring Southern Africa, Golovin, an international classical pianist, will visit Botswana for a concert featuring some works of great masters of romantic and classical music: Chopin and Liszt.
He will be performing in Namibia and Zimbabwe before coming to Botswana.

Golovin was born in 1945 in Moscow. He began studying the piano at the age of five at the famous Central Music School of Moscow, and then went to the Conservatory of Moscow in 1964, where he studied both the piano and musicology. He completed his studies at the Conservatory of Geneva and won the much coveted first prize with distinction of virtuosity.

Alexis Golovin has been Professor of the Geneva Conservatory since 1975 and was also a prize-winner of the international competitions of Terni (A. Casagrande competition) and Bolzano (F. Busoni competition). He has given many master classes including at the International Summer academy Mozarteum in Salzburg, Manhattan School of Music, Conservatory of Buenos-Aires, Conservatory of Moscow, Oxford Philomusica Summer Academy and Canton International Summer Music Academy.

Conversant with the works by Scriabin, Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1, B minor Sonata and Mephisto Waltz, chamber music, and the piano concertos by Mozart, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, Nikolai Tcherepnin, and Rodion Shchedrin, he has performed throughout Europe, America and Asia in concerts and in music festivals.

The concert will take place at Maitisong tomorrow (Thursday) at 7pm. Tickets for the concert cost: P100 for 2 members of Alliance Française, P150 for 2 non-members and P80 for individuals. They are available at Alliance Française de Gaborone and at Maitisong.
