Battered sides seek redemption

This coming weekend, Township Rollers and Mochudi Centre Chiefs will try to put behind weekend disappointments and collect maximum points. Defending Champions Rollers were reduced to mince meat when Mochudi Centre Chiefs mauled them 5-2.

BMC, on the other hand, gave up a two-goal lead to army side BDF XI and lost 3-2.
Being the defending champions and having signed some good players, people did not think Rollers would lose with such a huge margin.

But it was not to be as Rollers did not look like their former selves as Chiefs tore them from all sides.

The loss was one of heaviest for Rollers seen in ages. Just before the start of the season, BMC also signed some good players ahead of the new season and also have one of the most shrewd tacticians in the local game, Daniel ‘Chico’ Nare.

Nare thought he had got it all right until the second half when compatriot Louis Setshwane signaled his arrival in the elite league as a head coach.

This coming weekend, Nare’s troops will engage Uniao Flamengo Santos in their own backyard in Lobatse on Sunday.

Since they will have nothing to lose, BMC will have to fight really hard. Santos, on the other hand, have lost some of their key players, being Bakang Moeng to Gaborone United and Boitshoko Zikahali to Extension Gunners.

Already they are on verge of losing other two utility players, Mogakolodi ‘Tsotso’ Ngele and Thato ‘Yellow’ Bolwelweng.

The duo is reported to be training with Rollers and their absence might be a big blow to Santos.
Rollers, on the other hand, will travel to Francistown on Saturday to play their hoodoos, Ecco City Green. The match will not be easy as Ecco City also lost to cross town rivals, Tafic, over the weekend.

Ecco lost several of their players in the past transfer window. Age, however, is not on the side of their good players.

Rollers’ hard to please supporters are expected to throng Francistown stadium in numbers.
In other matches on Saturday, Miscellaneous will host Mogoditshane Fighters who had a positive start after defeating Great North Tigers. The match will be at Miscellaneous new home ground in Orapa.

After mauling Rollers, Chiefs will host another spirited side, BDF XI in Molepolole and whichever team wins will have a clear lead at the top of the league.

Other Saturday matches
Extension Gunners vs Tafic, SSKB
Police XI vs Satmos, Otse

By Sunday
Gaborone United Notwane, UB Stadium
NIco vd GNT, Francistown
All matches start at 3pm.
