BBA’s first runner-up Munya comes to Botswana

Film 2 Screen and Lizard Lounge on Sunday brought Munya Chidzonga, from Big Brother Africa TV reality show, to Botswana.

His appearances will be mainly for promoting his upcoming movie and charitable projects, such as road shows and dinner dance.

He is expected to meet the corporate community around Gaborone, Jwaneng and other Central and Northern part of the country. Meeting local authorities and charitable organizations and interacting with the public.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday in Gaborone, The Big Brother All stars 2010 runner up said, “Botswana has been behind me and realizing this fan base in Botswana it is very hard to ignore it.”
He will be off to Jwaneng today (Wednesday) and on Thursday he will hit Mahalapye and Palapye villages.

Crosby Bruin, one of the organizers of Munya’s visit, revealed that Munya’s tour is aimed at bringing cultural exchange between Botswana and Zimbabwe.

“It is a youth empowerment product, and it is a need for the youth,” said Bruin. He said that the event will raise funds to renovate a community leisure-park in White city.

The Botswana Association of Local Authorities (BALA) representative, Ludo Matshameko, also highlighted the event as part of the youth development. BALA will be part of Munya’s visit around the country. Housing projects and taking children off the streets are also part of the campaign.

“Botswana and Zimbabwe have common grounds and BALA has this project at heart,” said Matshemeko.
‘Pens Down Hands Free Bash’ is also part of the event with Munya’s appearance.

This event is targeting Standard 7, Form 3 and Form 5s. The aim is to give guidance to students as they move from one level of education to another.

Munya is expected to meet the Francistown community on Friday, meeting Councilors and other local authorities. He will be back to Gaborone on Saturday where he will be part of a gig at Lizard Lounge for the weekend.

Charitable organizations are expected to make use of Munya through dinner dance next Wednesday in Gaborone. The trips around the country are also to be spiced by music and other forms of entertainment.

The 24-year-old film maker and actor is expected to spend one full week in Botswana before returning to his home country Zimbabwe. Munya survived about 9 evictions on Big Brother All Stars earlier this year.

The $200 000 BBA All Star grand price was scoped by Nigeria’s Uti Nwachukwu.

But Zimbabwe President, Robert Mugabe, gave Munya US $300 000 for his efforts on Big Brother.
