Bifm keeps its promises as it completes SADC HQ, Fairgrounds Office Park

Phase Two of the Fairgrounds Office Park offices, and SADC Headquarters in the Central Business District (CBD) in Gaborone have been completed ÔÇô courtesy of Botswana Insurance Fund Management (Bifm).

“Infrastructural development is a lifetime investment that contributes significantly to economic growth. It plays a pivotal role in Bifm’s diversification strategy, which seeks to increase broader investment options for our various stakeholders,” said Bifm Chief Executive Officer, Victor Senye.

Completion of SADC Offices and Phase Two of Fairgrounds Office Park consolidates Bifm’s position as one of the pioneers of property development in Botswana. Pioneering of the first ever Public Private Partnership (PPP) saw the asset management company handover Plot 21 to its tenants ÔÇô a launch pad of future PPPs like the SADC Headquarters.

The seven-storey building will be used as SADC Headquarters for the member countries in the region. It is a major landmark, which is located a stone’s throw away from the New CBD.

Its dark glass windows contrast well with the face brick. Even before completion, motorists and pedestrians alike were glued to what promised to be a grand structure.

Concrete pillars, hanging cranes and heavy machinery present during construction are no more; instead an imposing structure stands proudly against the Gaborone skyline.

Phase 2 of the Fairgrounds Office Park on the other hand is of world-class standards. With access to gym facilities and a coffee shop in the Phase 1 block, they have a unique appeal welcomed by many.

The set up is designed to make the offices a one-stop shop. Tenants get to exercise at the gym, or cool-off at the coffee shop. Office space has been redefined with an emphasis on convenience.

Completion of these offices is another of Bifm’s kept promises. A date is yet to be confirmed for the handover and official opening of the SADC Offices, but is expected to be sometime next year.

Commenting on these developments Tebogo Hirschfeldt, Bifm’s Corporate Communications and Marketing Manager said: “We are proud of this remarkable achievement. Delivering on projects of this magnitude is a true accomplishment.”

Bifm continues to be an investor of choice and a key contributor towards Botswana’s economic growth and development.
