Botswana’s attempt to raise funds through its first inflation-linked bond has ended in failure, with investors demanding higher returns than the government was willing to offer. The auction, held end of February, attracted just P220 million in bids, far short of the P750 million the government had hoped to secure. As a result, no funds were raised.
