Business ruining Botswana politics by financing one political party against all others

A few months ago president Mokgweetsi Masisi summoned the top leaders of business in Botswana for a meeting and told them that the Botswana Democratic Party needed money for the elections campaign.

The president kept a straight face.

According to a few people who attended the come together, the event was up to a bad start.

The meeting was held at 430, a newly opened upmarket hotel at the Gaborone CBD.

It started with a long lecture from the president who told his guests why they had to finance the BDP.

The president was speaking at them rather speaking to them.
