Chill Step Sundays to resurrect the Arts

The Stanbic Bank Piazza located at Molapo crossing will host the first ChillStep Sundays for 2016, on January 31st. The event will start at 2pm and continue through the day until 11pm.

The first ChillStep Sundays event was held on August 30th, 2015 at Bier Baron, Main Mall. It later moved to Stanbic Bank Piazza on the 20th of December 2015 due to an increase in attendees as well as the Art on display. “We used to host forty to fifty people, then as more people got to know about it, we decided to change the venue, were we saw an increase of about four hundred people in attendance in our last edition”, expressed the Project Manager, Leonard Mittawa.

ChillStep is an art scene platform about music, art, food, drinks and fashion. “The main goal of this kind of event is to empower artists and designers as to create a market for them to be able to exhibit and sell their work,” said Leonard Mittawa. There are limited spaces for exhibitors as only six artists and six designers can showcase their work to the attendants. These chosen few are selected from a large number of entries by a panel of judges.

Every month the judges select different exhibitors to be part of the event. “For one to be considered, one has to be unique and be able to display different items from the other chosen few,” expressed Mittawa.

To enter, you follow the steps on how to be part of this amazing experience on their Facebook page: ChillStep Sundays, Twitter: EDM Life Projects, Black Tie projects and on Instagram: Stunt_booking. Mittawa highlighted that, “As a social responsibility and a need to support artists who cannot display in an art gallery, these artists display and sell their products without us charging them any fee”.

He also said, “ChillStep does not only benefit us, but also restaurants such as Maxis and Flava, as attendants can step into them and order,” said Mittawa.
