Constructor fined for employing illegal Zimbabweans

A sixty-five-year-old man from Kanye was this Friday arraigned before the Urban Customary Court President, Kgosi Dikwalo Monametsi, charged with employing non-citizens without papers.

Gaopalelwe Rammidi, from Sebako Ward in Kanye, who owns Rammidi Construction Company, was reported and taken to the Central Police by four Zimbabwean men, who he had employed illegally, after he refused to pay them.

The four men told the court that what they wanted was a total of P216 they had worked for and asked the court to help them to get their money.
Kgosi Monametsi ordered Rammidi to pay all the accused their P216 and fined him P100 court fine to be paid before November 30, 2006, failing which he would be jailed for three months.

He warned and cautioned the four illegal immigrants and ordered them to stop working in Botswana without proper documents.
