Debswana’s rough diamond sales have been on a downward trend for ten consecutive months, severely impacting the company’s revenues and putting pressure on Botswana’s national budget.
Data from the Bank of Botswana reveals that rough diamond sales for the first seven months of this year totaled P19.6 billion—a steep 47% decline from the P36.9 billion recorded during the same period in 2023, and 45% lower than the P35.9 billion achieved in 2022.
