Nowadays, it seems as if deejaying as a career seems to be seriously hit by a series of security threats. After gigs, which normally end in the wee hours of the morning, deejays become vulnerable to all sorts of grips and vices. These include being harassed by over excited revelers and becoming victims of robberies and muggings.
Kunaal Jinabhai otherwise popularly known as Dj Kuchie got mugged by a gang of manyora (thugs) on Saturday night. He tried to chase them, but failed to catch them. Kuchi who had been performing at a gig got robbed off his cellphone in the wee hours of Saturday morning at Molapo crossing car park. The celebrity house deejay however managed to get his phone back on Saturday morning after tracking his phone with the help of the police.
The Telegraph managed to secure an interview the following morning after the incident happened. “Luckily I use a Samsung smartphone so I traced its location using my brothers’ phone and got Gaborone west police to help me trace it,” he said. Out of sheer luck his phone was still on and the police successfully located it at a shebeen somewhere in white city and he managed to get it back.
“I was mostly concerned about my contacts as compared to the actual device itself,” said Kuchie who showed a big sigh of relief after he got his phone back.
