Millions of government funds are being thrown down the drain as drug users crush anti retroviral drugs and mix them with dagga to make it more potent.
The Minister of Health, Dr. John Seakgosing, said that his ministry will launch investigations into the allegations, which first surfaced during his recent visit to Bokaa Village.
“I was very shocked when I heard these allegations. This is very heart breaking because we spend millions buying ARVs only for them to be wasted like this,” he said.
Seakgosing said that his ministry will investigate the allegations, and the perpetrators will face severe punishment.
“We will definitely engage law enforcement officers to probe such allegations,” he said.
Richard Matlhare of the National Aids Coordinating Agency said that they were not aware of such allegations.
