The finance department in Francistown will play inter games with their South African counterparts from the North West Province for the first time on the 11th of August this year. 
The various sports games, which will comprise of football, netball and volleyball come, as an initiative by the Francistown finance department to try and network, interact and benchmark with other finance departments from other countries. The initiative is also part of the drive by the department to try and promote the health and wellness of its employees. Volleyball and netball will be played at Mater Spei College and football will be played at the Francistown stadium.
Speaking to the Sunday Standard, the Spokesperson and Coordinator of the games at the Department, Mogolodi Pansiri said that the initiative which is the first of its kind by the department is very crucial as it will help the two countries to benchmark on each other especially on how they serve their customers and clients and how they can benchmark on each other in the promotion of wellness and health in the workplace..
“This initiative is very important because we will be able to learn from the finance departments from other countries and similarly they will also have the opportunity to learn from us. These games have always been there locally, it is only that this time we wanted to invite colleagues from other countries,” he said.
He cited shortage of funds as some of their disadvantages but added that they had to conduct some fundraising projects to try and fund the inter games.
He lauded these games saying that they will contribute immensely in improving the health and wellbeing of employees.
“Through this initiative we can be able to develop a healthy workforce because sport is very important in maintaining a healthy living. A healthy workforce leads to high productivity in any organization,” he said.
He added that during the games, there will be health test centres in place for individuals to test on diseases such as sugar diabetes, gum diseases and many other diseases. He said that they are planning to hold such games annually and are looking forward to engaging other  countries in Southern Africa in the future.
“We had initially invited the Namibians to participate in the inter games but unfortunately they could not make it,” he said.
