Gaotsenelelwe leaves a mark in SA

Twenty-year-old former Miss Tourism Botswana 2013, Katlego Gaotsenelelwe, left a mark at the recently held beauty pageant designed to celebrate the beauty of African countries as well as the diversity of different cultures all over Africa. ??The sassy beauty proved that she is a beauty with brains as she stood out at the beauty contest where she was representing the country at the Miss Heritage pageant which is an annual event held in South Africa on the 20th of December.??Different models from different African countries came to showcase their modelling talent, food and culture.

Gaotsenelelwe managed to impress the judges not only with her beauty but also her outstanding cultural practices that she shared with them. She was instantly the crowd’s favourite and managed to secure a place in the top 3 there by winning the second princess title, while first princess went to St Vincent and the Grenadines while Miss Philipines managed to scoop the crown. Gaotsenelelwe mentioned that although the competition was tight, she knew from the onset that she had to do her best and not disappoint her country.??“The minute I left home, I told myself that I was going to bring the crown home and although I did get position one, I am glad with the title I got,” she said.??

Gaotsenelwele explained that although she left the country sad as she did not get much help and support from the government, she was however motivated by the fact that her friends and family did everything in their abilities to make sure that she enjoys her stay in SA. “My family and friends are very supportive of my career and they are always making sure that whatever I need to perform at my level best is taken care of,” she said.??She further explained that she caught the judge’s eye with her designer outfits that were sponsored by two best local designers Aobakwe Molosiwa and Kaone Moremong. “They loved the dresses and also my traditional attire that I got from culture spears.

We had to sell our country to them by both attire and food, I cooked pap, phane and delele and these were well done and tasty,” she said.??Gaotsenelwele said this is only the beginning of good things to come for her and her career. She said she is aiming at winning bigger beauty contests. “I have plans of representing my country in far places and making my fans and family proud. All these plans will start coming alive this year. I believe I have a great talent that needs to be showcased and used for positive change,” she said. ??This is not the first time Gaotsenelwele performed well in another county as she also represented the country well in Equatorial Guinea in 2013 for the Miss Tourism title.

The young woman also represented University of Botswana in Swaziland earlier last year for the Miss Intervarsity where she was placed in the top 3. ??Miss Heritage is a beauty pageant designed to celebrate beautiful and the diversity of cultures.
