Gospel sensation Tebogo Sethomo is to entertain the audience at the Kweneng East constituency victory celebrations.
Expected to feature prominently at the celebration scheduled for January 21 are the BDP chairman Daniel Kwelagobe, as the guest speaker.
Known in musical circles as Tebbie, Sethomo quit her teaching job under a cloud as her musical ambitions clashed with her profession – performing and producing albums for the BDP, often wearing party colours, before and during the previous national elections.
Her conduct breached the civil service policy, which bars the civil service employees from participating in politics, forcing her to resign although those close to the singer insist she was pushed out.
Serowe-born Tebbie shot to fame in 2006 with her debut album, Khubama, with songs like Tlhonolofatsa still enjoying much play.
She currently has six albums under her belt and has received Best Female Gospel singer and most popular artist awards, adding credence to her musical prowess.
Also to perform will be Sekepe Choir and the senior choir from Kopong and Gakutlo.
Won by Moeng Pheto with a considerable margin, Kweneng East constituency is one in a string of celebratory victories and rallies launched by the ruling party as a ‘thank you’ gesture to voters in the unpredictable dog eat dog political competition.
