Hilton Hotel CleanStay ushers the future to Gaborone

For me it was a big wow moment.  It was more than just ambiance meets inventiveness. The Hilton CleanStay swank was the closest I have ever come to a futuristic techno sci-fi-movie come to life experience.

The Hilton CleanStay drive has introduced a digital key technologythat provides guests with the ability to lock and unlock hoteldoors via a smartphone application.

As hotels move swiftly to address health concerns amid the coronavirus pandemic the Hilton in has launched a CleanStay initiative, blazing the trail for Botswana competitors to follow.

The goal of Hilton CleanStay is to provide guests with assurance and peace of mind when they stay at any of Hilton’s hotels. The inventiveness creates a focus on cleanliness that is visible to guests throughout their entire stay – in their guest rooms, restaurants, fitness rooms and in other public spaces. Hilton CleanStay was developed to meet evolving consumer expectations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here’s what you can expect when you come to the Hilton Garden Inn Gaborone; If you prefer a contactless arrival experience, you can check-in, choose your room, unlock your door with a digital key and check-out using your mobile devices through the free Hilton Honors mobile app.

You download the Hilton Honors app on the App Store or Google Play. After you check in and choose your room on the app, you can opt to have a Digital Key to use during your stay. Once your room is ready on the day of your arrival, you’ll receive a push notification to your smartphone that the key has been delivered. It will then be available in your Hilton Honors app until you check out.

From there, you use it to open any door you’d normally access with a regular key. This includes your room, elevators, side doors, the fitness center . To use on property, open the Hilton Honors app, and when you’re within a few feet of a door, simply push the button to unlock.

For those who prefer a traditional check-in, physical distancing measures are in place directing guests on how to move through the in-person check-in and check-out process in a safe way. As you approach the elevator, you will see a hand sanitizing and disinfecting station for added peace of mind. Additionally, you will notice that elevators are being cleaned more frequently, with disinfecting wipes available for your use. As you walk through the lobby, the seating has been arranged to accommodate social distancing. Signage encouraging social distancing and explaining the CleanStay program are also placed throughout the lobby. The first point of contact with the guest room is with the Hilton CleanStay room seal, placed on the door upon being thoroughly cleaned. The room has extra disinfection of the most frequently touched guests room areas – light switches, door handles, TV remotes, thermostats and more. Housekeeping services are now based upon guest preference, recognizing that some guests may not want staff entering their room. Additional amenities such as linen and toiletries are available upon request, delivered in protective packaging and placed at the guest room door.

Ms. Thabani Ndlovu was welcomed as the hotel’s new General Manager.

Thabani’s longstanding and influential career at Hilton began in a restaurant at the Hilton London Metropole in 2004 where she continued to add value and insight to the business through the various roles in Operations and Corporate since then.  Her drive and determination led her to becoming an esteemed and highly experienced member of the tourism and hospitality sector, having received a number of honourable awards and recognitions, including being ranked among the top 100 women un tourism in Africa. “I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to grow in a company that truly believes in talent development and women in leadership.
