A 25-year-old man died on the spot on Sunday after he was run over by a motorist while trying to cross the road by Tsolamosese Road in the Mogoditshane area.
Mogoditshane Police Station Commander, Superintendent Nkwebi Chilisa, said the man was among a group of others who were crossing the road but was unfortunate as a car run over him, killing him on the spot.
Chilisa said the driver did not stop but, instead, run away with no one noting the car’s registration number.
“For drivers to run over pedestrians and run away is not the right thing to do but I think the incident will haunt him for the rest of his life,” said Chilisa.
He added that investigations are still ongoing and appealed to members of the community to assist with any information that might lead to the identification and arrest of the driver.
Chilisa said the parents of the deceased, who are from Bray in the Verda jurisdiction, had already identified him.
Chilisa said such incidents seem to be growing as they have already recorded three of them this year but they have not yet arrested anyone.
