Last week saw Joe Biden’s inauguration as the 46th President of the United States of America. And the contrast between Joe Biden and his predecessor Donald Trump could not have been starker. Trump put the economy on a path to growth through deregulation, reducing red tape and tax cuts and these measures allowed business to thrive. The fact of the matter is that Donald Trump’s blockbuster economy created economic and job opportunities for millions of Americans. Trump was for the prosperity of the American people. He was not prepared to give away national sovereignty to the plethora of United Nations agencies. When all had been said and done, the unemployment rate among black Americans for example, hit an historic low under his stewardship until all that was of course, upended by the coronavirus that first broke out in China.
Joe Biden on the other hand is moving in the opposite direction. This is a president who is beholden to his base of destructive leftists and climate change activists. He is an environmental ideologue who worships at the altar of climate change. It’s environmental hysteria on steroids. There is no interest whatsoever about the damage that all this does to jobs and lives of ordinary people. His priority is to be feted by undemocratic UN agencies. He rushed back to the WHO and even after doing so, he has nothing to show for it. . China still calls the tune at WHO and as a result there is no independent mission to that country to investigate how the virus that has claimed millions of lives across the world was initially handled. So to prove his environmental credentials, the most notable thing that the new United States president did on his first day in office was to terminate the Keystone XL oil pipe line.
For those who look up to CNN as their only source of news, the pipe line was being built to transport oil from Canada to the Unites States. It provided for good paying jobs and at the stroke of a pen, Joe Biden terminated the project and with that ten thousand jobs were destroyed. So Joe Biden’s governing philosophy is that the environment trumps jobs. It’s a surreal zero sum game that his regime plays. A scorched earth policy of crippling jobs is unfolding before our very own eyes if you like.
This termination of the pipe line has obviously generated a backlash and the response by Joe Biden and his surrogates has been hilarious. In responding to questions about the fate of people whose lives have been turned upside down by Biden effectively firing them, we are told that they will be absorbed into the solar power manufacturing industry. Putting aside the fact that the solar business is unprofitable and relies on government subsidies, the pipe line workers whom Biden terminated, have mortgages and families to look after. To tell them that they will find alternate jobs in an unspecified future is downright insulting.
His climate change czar, John Kerry has stated that the new regime’s foreign policy will be underpinned by climate change. So countries as such Botswana which depend on fossil fuels to generate electricity must tread carefully to avoid the wrath of the climate change activist now occupying the White House.
