Laff a lil comedics host this year’s Presidents Day comedy competition

Stand up comics, Bafana ‘Ribcracker’ Letsatsi and Modiri ‘MOD’ Keseabetswe, of Laff a Little, Laff a Lot Comedy Jam, have registered an Association that is comedy inclined, called Comedy For the Nation of Botswana (CFNB) and, as their first major project, CFNB will work with the Ministry of Youth Culture and Sport in coordinating the standup comedy competition in this year’s President’s Day celebrations.

Both Ribcracker and MOD took part in last year’s celebrations where they were finalists, with MOD winning the overall prize of comedian of the year and taking home a cheque worth P10 000.

This year, four shows will be held across the country in Francistown, Maun, Kang and Gaborone where a total of 10 finalists will be chosen to compete in Gaborone at Westwood International School (Mantlwaneng Theatre) for the prize money of P10 000, on the 18th July 2009.

The entry requirements are citizenship of Botswana, and entrants must be aged between 16 and 35 years aspiring comics. Entry forms may be picked up at the nearest Youth and Culture office and handed in on the last Wednesday before the show at each of the venues.

13th June 2009 Francistown Senior Secondary School
20th June 2009 Maun Senior Secondary School
27th June 2009 Kang (Matsha Senior Secondary School)
4th July 2009 Gaborone Senior Secondary School

Shows at all venues commence at 09:00hrs.
