Local comedian Mawee set to record his first DVD

Lovers of stand-up comedy will on October 31 witness a historic comedy show ÔÇô a night of healing and non-stop laughter as multi-award winner in the local comedy, Oefile ‘Mawee’ Mokgware, will be recording his comedic talents at Cresta President Hotel.?Mokgware has made his mark on both the local and international comedy scenes since his first time at the then Khwest Cafe Sunday Comedy shows.

Mawee is definitely one of the most fearlessly funny comedians working today ÔÇô a young, comedian who earlier this year emerged second in a national talent competition where he managed to pocket P50 000.?Organizer of the show, Gaolathe Kediemetse of Major Moves Comedy, said one-man stand-up comedy shows are a worldwide phenomenon, having launched many carrers for stand-up comedians internationally.┬á

He added that the time has come for Mawee to make his own DVD as he has so much talent that needs to be shared with the world.?“Wherever he performs, he leaves people breathless. Mawee has also won the 2014 President Day Comedy Competition beating seven other comedians and this shows he is more than capable,” Kediemetse said.?

He said that the young man has also recently left audiences in South Africa in stitches with his witty and hilarious punchlines.?He said Mawee left an impression not only on his audience, but other comedians who could not stop showering him with praises. Mawee shared the stage with the best comedians in SA including the likes of┬áTrevor Gumbi, Crazy Kay, the host Mashabela Galane and American, Griff.?“He has since been invited to perform in Rustenburg and Pretoria after he posted a video clip on youtube and this also influenced the idea of a fully-fledged professional DVD. Mawee will be following in the footsteps of established comedians like Goodie the Badd and MOD who have previously shot their 1 Man Comedy DVDs,” he said.?Kediemetse said that this is a show not to be missed as people will get a chance to see Mawee who’s from Gabane in an all new hilarious comedy package full of humour.?

Joining the young man on stage are other rib crackers including Rekunde from Maun, Gabz FM’s Paps, Phenyo the Master, Tsabong based Brooks and two hilarious and fresh comedians from South Africa, Jazz Buddha and Crazy Kay. The SA duo will be performing in Botswana for the first time.?“The last time we had a comedy show was early August, and people have been inquiring about the next show.

Many people have also said that with Mawee, one cannot maintain a straight face, which symbolizes his outstanding excellence when it comes to comedy. With this DVD recording show we expect the multi-award winner and his guests to keep people laughing throughout,” said Kediemetse.?Mawee said that he is finally fulfilling his fans’ wishes as they have been asking him to record his shows so that they can see them whenever they want. He said this is the DVD to look out for as he has been preparing for the night.

“I have been working on new material and Batswana will see a different side of me as the jokes I will be cracking will be nothing they have heard of. The DVD will be available before the end of year and I urge them to go get it and support local talent,” he said.
