Youth Health Organisation (YOHO), a local youth-run initiative that is committed to promoting healthy lifestyles for youth, has embarked on a fund-raising task in a bid to buy an electric wheelchair for the much appraised young and talented local R n B singer, Kabo Matlho, to help increase his mobility.
The show will also share positive messages regarding arts development in Botswana, alcohol and drug abuse as well as HIV/AIDS related issues.
Dubbed “Friends of Kabo Arts Fundraiser”, the event is scheduled to run from the 21st to 23rd October at Maitisong and will feature two musicals.
The first is Your Excellency, which is addressed to President Khama to inform him about the challenges faced by artists in Botswana.
It stars Kabo Matlho, Unity Band and Boitshepo Nyathi.
The second is Sweet Home, which features the KTM choir, Vee wa Mampela, Dr Vom and Captain Dira Bonang Koo Theatre Group from Lobatse.
Three children’s theatre plays, by Riverside Primary School (Serowe), Manaka Primary (Francistown) and Pandamatenga Primary (Francistown), will also be featured.
Speaking to the Sunday Standard, YOHO Media Relations Officer, Mandla Pule, promised fireworks at all the shows and urged members of the public to come out in droves to support this worthy cause, saying preparations are at an advanced stage with rehearsals taking place every day at YOHO offices in Gaborone West.
Pule said they have already received aid from the Department of Youth and the Ministry of Sports, Youth and Culture, which was used for arranging transport, accommodation and meals for artists.
