Maun mysterious murder probed

Police in Maun are appealing to members of the public to come and identify the body of an unknown middle aged man whose lifeless body was found near a popular night club on the 3rd February by a passerby at around 3am. Station commander Superintendent Peter Gochela says the corpse is currently lying at Letsholathebe Memorial Hospital mortuary. Upon receiving the report, Gochela says they rushed to the scene at which point the man was rushed to the hospital and was certified dead upon arrival.

“He had bruises all over his body, but we are not at this point in a position to say whether he was murdered or not. We are just awaiting postmortem results to reveal such,” he said. The police boss also called on anyone who might have witnessed or have information in connection with the death incident to come forward as information supplied might assist in the ongoing investigations.

Gochela has also confirmed to have received a report involving a 22 year old convict at Maun’s Boro Prision who was raped by a fellow inmate aged 32. A reliable source told of how on the night of February 7th at around 10pm, the victim was approached by the suspect who demanded that they have sex. He is said to have threatened to kill him, should he scream, forcing him to give in. It was only in the morning that he reported the incident to authorities and the case was further reported to Maun Police.
