As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, Botswana Life Insurance last week signed a P250 000 sponsorship deal with Serowe side Miscellaneous Sporting Club. The sponsorship will run for the duration of the 2015/2016 season and is expected to uplift the team in all its technical aspects, as well as help buy equipment and sporting gear. Officially launching the sponsorship, Head of Liferewards and Customer Loyalty at Botswana Life, Thomas Masifhi said that they are proud to have partnered with Miscellaneous SC to ensure that it becomes one of the best teams in the country.
“We are constantly looking for opportunities such as this one to support local talent, partner with communities and contribute positively to the social dynamics of Botswana,” he said.
He said Botswana Life, as the only locally owned life insurance company in Botswana, with a wide network of branches and satellite offices across the country, has a plan to remain connected to the communities that it does business in.
Masifhi said Miscellaneous SC boasts of a long history in Botswana football as it has managed to go through different phases of development over the years. The team currently stands at position five in the premier league. Through the sponsorship, he said, Botswana Life wants see Miscellaneous SC growing from strength to strength. “Our wish is to boost the morale of Miscellaneous SC players and to improve their performance on the pitch. We also wish to see more supporters rallying behind the team than ever before. Our support will drive the team forward,” he said.
Masifhi commended the team executive for maintaining good working relations with Botswana Life Insurance.
For his part, Kgosi Serokola Seretse of Sekao ward said the sponsorship is a breakthrough for Miscellaneous SC and the people of Serowe.
“I want to thank Botswana Life for their good gesture. They should continue the good spirit because the bible says blessed is the hand that gives. We feel motivated by this gesture and we very much appreciate what the company is doing for us. We hope to continue working with them and I want to ensure Botswana Life that our team will not disappoint,” he said.
The occasion was concluded with a football game between Miscellaneous SC and Gaborone United (GU) at Serowe Sports Complex, in which GU thrashed Miscellaneous with 3ÔÇô1.
