The University of Botswana has promoted Professor Sisai Mpuchane to the level of full Professor of Biology.
She was initially elevated to Associate Professor in 1998.
Professor Mpuchane, a citizen of Botswana, joined the University of Botswana in September 1974 as a lecturer. At the time she was armed with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University and a Master of Science degree in Medical Microbiology from Ohio University. She later qualified for a doctoral degree in Food Microbiology from the University of Surrey. She has served as Head of Department of Biology and Dean of the Faculty of Science. She has acted as Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Her area of specialization is Food Microbiology.
According to UB Director of Public Affairs, Sam Moribame, Professor Mpuchane has been associated with the new Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST). She is the Executive Chair of BIUST on secondment from UB. She chaired the task force appointed to carry out the consultative process and undertake all the preliminary preparations required for the Government to make a final decision on the second University
