NNUNU FAREWELL CONCERT

Jazz X Change, a concept created by Rahman El-Kindiy has come together with the President Hotel and Streethorn Promotions to put together a farewell concert for Nnunu Ramogotsi who leaves for Stockholm Sweden to take part in a Botswana Sweden Jazz X Change programme. She travels with her Tour Manager and Streethorn Promotions, Managing Director Soares Katumbela also known as Dj SK.
The Song bird and Afro-jazz sensation will perform at the Jazz X Change today, Sunday 22nd September. She bids farewell in style making sure that everyone remains with a piece of her while she is away. During her visit in Stockholm, Nnunu will among others, facilitate music workshops, Perform at several events including performances with a Swedish band at the Botswana Embassy concert and Fasching jazz club.
Katumbela told Sunday Standard that this project started in August 2011 when he accompanied Shanti lo, John Selolwane Stockholm to perform together with the Swedish musicians at the Stockholm Pride Festival.
Two Swedish musicians, Anna Christoffersson and Robert Ikiz came to Botswana in December 2011, and collaborated with Botswana musicians including Shanti lo’s band. The collaboration included: Joint rehearsals, Music workshops as well as a concert that feautured popular South African artiste Zahara at G.I.C.C.
The project was coordinated by Streethorn Promotions Company and Lightmemusic (Sweden), and funded by SIDA (Swedish International Development Agency). Shanti lo, John Selolwane and Soares Katumbela went to Stockholm again in May 2012, to continue the music collaboration. Upon their second visit to Stockholm, Shanti lo was offered a scholarship at Kulturama Music School.
The final leg of the project took place at Botswanacraft in January 2013, when four Swedish musicians; Anna Christoffersson, Pablo Donaldo, Johan Hanseon Larson and Jonathan Allguin, facilitated music workshops with Botswana musicians, which closed with a live performance under the Mascom Live Sessions project. Nnunu Ramogotsi was among the musicians that had performed with the Swedish musicians.
The Swedish were extremely impressed with Nnunu Ramogotsi that they invited her to visit Sweden for their next collaboration which has led to this trip. Katumbela further stated that they are currently in negotiations with the Swedish to some of the performances from this tour in Nnunu upcoming releases.
In addition to that, Katumbela will present a live radio broadcast on Duma Fm from President hotel starting at 1600 till 1900hrs. Live interviews and special requests will be open for the public.
