I wouldn’t classify myself as particularly religious but every now and again, I’m overcome with a sense of wonder and awe not just about how our universe was created, but about the tiny, miraculous things that occur within it each day.

There’s an incredible amount of beauty in our world; so much “luck” and good fortune, that it’s difficult not to stop and ponder what could be at the source of it all.

In my line of work, I’m also fortunate enough to come across a lot of incredibly talented and successful people, who’re keen to push the boundaries of their success to create something magnificent. Where does the inspiration for all of that come from?

As smart as we are, it’s simply not sufficient to say that ‘man’ is the source of this ingenuity; we’re not smart enough. A Greater Power is at the heart of all creation in the Universe; including all of our achievements, big and small.

Whether you call it God, Source Energy or The Universe, it amounts to the same thing: this Powerful Force; this Eternal Source of Goodness, flows throughout everything; and it extends its great works, its creations, through us!

It’s the reason we can walk away from the wreck of a car that’s damaged beyond recognition, not just alive, but without a scratch. It’s the same Force behind phone calls or e-mails that come announcing tremendous opportunities just when we need them. This Force brings new, amazing friends into our lives at just the right time; and it gives us big, unexpected discounts on goods that we love, because it wants to add to our abundance!

In movies such as Star Wars, there’s constant reference to ‘The Force.’ At various intervals in ‘Star Wars: A New Hope,’ we’re reminded that “The Force surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.” Also, before embarking on a great Mission, movie character, Luke Skywalker, is told, “Use The Force, Luke;” and “The Force will be with you, always.”

This Force is not purely fictional, or the subject of sci-fi movies. It is real. As human beings, we can call on it and actively use it to our advantage any time we choose to. When things don’t go our way, it’s because we failed to acknowledge the presence of; and use The Force – let’s call it ‘God’ – in our lives.

We can’t achieve anything outside this Greater Power. Do you remember the story of Moses, arguably one of the most memorable leaders the world has ever witnessed? When he tried to lead the Israelites out of Egypt to the Promised Land through his own strength, he was a catastrophic failure.

Dejected and miserable, it was to be another forty years before Moses recovered from his tragic enterprise to make a second attempt; and the second time around, he was wiser. He asked God to go with him. Before he set off, he prayed: “If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favour with you.” God replied: “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Moses succeeded, because The Force was with him.

The Force’s presence is key to success in any area of our lives. We’re all imbued with The Force, or the spirit of God, within us.

When we acknowledge it, it’s not because we need to stroke God’s ego; or pander to Him in order to stay in his good books. It’s because magical things begin to happen when we realise that we’re not just relying on our own abilities in order to make good things happen, but on an Omnipotent Power that controls everything; and has our very best interests at heart.

We gain strength and confidence; and are no longer intimidated by the largesse of our dreams. We know we have what it takes; and that we can achieve anything.

Do you feel; and acknowledge, the presence of God in your life? Moses had a ‘prayer tent’ that he went to when he wanted to commune with God. Some people quiet their minds through meditation to feel God’s presence and beauty. Others lose themselves in activities they love, such as gardening, or running.

How do you become alive to the presence of God in your life?

This week, think about this; and practice feeling His presence in your life. “In all thy ways acknowledge him.” Nothing is too great or too small.

Thank Him that you sleep safely every night, and can afford to take your security for granted. You can even thank Him that load shedding is temporary; that it doesn’t occur every day; and that it results in smaller electricity bills. Find any reason to acknowledge the good things He does for you.

Whatever we focus our attention on grows. When we acknowledge God’s presence in our lives, including by boldly declaring the good things he does for us, we amplify the magic; and His grace in our lives becomes magnified.

Furthermore, when we create magnificent lives, as we are destined to, we’re not the only ones who benefit. Others witnessing our success benefit too. They become inspired, as we serve as living examples of the goodness of The Force at work in the world. Others then learn to tap into it to improve their lives.

Isaiah 41:10 reminds us to, “fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Fear nothing! Use the Force; and pursue what God has placed in your heart!
Make it a great week!
