Dear Mr. Editor,
It has come to our attention and notice that, in your edition of April 29 – May 5, 2007 you published an article on page 4 that is not representative of the views and opinions of the group led by Comrade Kathleen Letshabo.
The said article was headlined “Now the BNF Letshabo Faction wants congress moved to August”. It is not in our best interests to start firing broadsides at the media, in particular The Sunday Standard, but we are concerned and equally worried that since the unconstitutional convocation of the Congress certain newspapers have been peddling untruths about our group. The statements contained in the said article are fallacious, malicious as well as misleading and could only be ascribed to a well known quarter.
We would like to point out that we have in the past objected to the unconstitutional convocation of the congress. Such objection was to ensure that we enter the race with clear consciences and that we do not allow our party members to be misled. Our action was meant to show our dissention. There are concrete reasons for that which we do not intend to share publicly. We decided to participate in the election in the interest of the members and Unity of our Party.
We are worried that the article purports to portray and create an impression that our group is not ready and as such unprepared as well as afraid to lose the elections. Again, we would like to point out that we are not only ready but are confident of winning the elections. The party will have a new leader on May 21, 2007 and that is Comrade Kathleen Letshabo. We are quite comfortable with our campaign and no doubt believe we have covered enough ground to give us an edge over our colleagues in the opposite camp.

Publicity and Information ÔÇô Secretary.
