Botswana Democratic Party Member of Parliament Botsalo Ntuane has called on government to reduce the amount of money that it spends on the Directorate of Intelligence and Security.
When making his contributions to the budget speech on Monday, Ntuane slammed government for financial imprudence, saying that the excessive money that is spent on the DIS is unjustified.
“As progressive and responsible citizens, we must scrutinize and interrogate some of these things. With the exception of the police, DIS and BDF should not have been allocated such a huge sum of money, especially during such trying times,” he said.
Ntuane said the money that is spent on the DIS and BDF should be channeled towards social services.
“Our country is quickly becoming another African country. We must guard against such a development,” said Ntuane in conclusion.
