Over 40’s poised for Miss Savanna Dry pageant

All you have to be is 40 years old and above on the day billed for the annual Miss Savanna Dry Millennium pageant. With no body or height specifications, any middle-aged woman above forty can compete for this coveted title.

Now in its 6th year, in 2013 it will run under the theme, ‘Real Beauty comes from within’. In conjunction with Savanna Dry and 79 Macheri, Millennium Jazz Bar have scheduled the Miss Savanna Dry Millennium for Sunday 17th February 2013.

Lucia Molebatsi Seretse of 79 Macheri promises a bigger, more colorful event this year as there will be more lighting, a bigger stage and they will also have a surprise judge from outside the country to enhance the growth of this pageant. A specific segment during the show will entail taking a trip down memory lane in reminiscing about the five pageants held so far.

In a bid to give back to the community, the reigning Miss Millennium 2012, Patience Motlhapi, managed to put smiles on members of an under privileged family from Mmanoko, a small village in the Kweneng region.

Through her spirited efforts, Motlhapi managed to raise enough money to buy three orphans clothes, food, blankets and find them a house belonging to the Mmanoko Village Development Committee.

Owner of Millennium Jazz Bar, Shima Monageng, explained at a media briefing that this community work by the Miss Millennium winners was an ongoing process. He added that Motlhabi was in the process of acquiring a more permanent residence as well as employment for the family she was working with during her reign.

Regional Sales Manager for Savanna Dry, Widzani Moarabi, said as the main sponsors Savanna is also given a chance to give back to the community as a way of showing that they are not only interested in making profits.

Moarabi explained how they take pride in sponsoring a mature and responsible clientele in a manner which extended help to the community as a whole.

Other events scheduled alongside this year’s pageant include community activities, among them a wellness walk and a family fun day before the grand crowning of Miss Millennium 2013. Registration is currently on going at the Millennium Jazz bar.
