Possibility thinking!

Is it possible? Could you really achieve all the goals you have set for yourself? If its possible where would you have to start? How would you have to behave? Who would you spend your time with? Where would you spend your money and your time? I mean what if you could achieve your goals what would that mean to you?

It is said that an army general upon realizing that his men were surrounded by enemy troops turned around and declared to his men with a sense of awe that, “gentlemen for the first time since the beginning of this war we now have the opportunity to attack the enemy in any direction we choose.

Of course he was surrounded, but giving up was not in his mind and he did not want the idea of giving up to enter the mind of his fighting men for it was sure to waken their will and make them susceptible to defeat.

You cannot think about possibilities unless you are in a positive state of mind, a positive state of mind should be guarded at all costs because that is the ultimate advantage that anyone has. Yet quite often we forego that advantage by indulging in negative and self defeatist thinking. We doubt ourselves, our abilities and capabilities with such relentlessness you would almost think that we are getting paid to doubt ourselves. No matter what we do we get paid to believe in ourselves and research shows that the more we believe in our selves the more we prosper.

How then does one start to believe in his own abilities, where does the journey start? Well it starts with you recognizing that you can think and use your head for its intended purpose, to think and not just to wear a hat. Use your imagination for problem solving purposes to solve the problems that stand between where you now are and where you want to be. The theory of constraints asserts that there will always be constraints between where you now are and where you would love to go.

These constraints can take many forms; they could be budgetary, limited resources such as time and the support that you may deem necessary for the achievement of your goals.

Therefore knowing that constraints are a given the course of action is not to wish them out of existence but confront them head on head on by addressing challenges that are on your way. The first step for doing this is simple and easy, but it is because of its perhaps deceptively simple and easy nature that most people don’t practice it. First you take a piece of paper, at the top of that you write down what you deem to be the biggest challenge you face now. Then you below that you list all possible actions that you could take to solve that problem.

A majority of the answers will not be any good, but of those that you feel are worthy of further investigation should be followed up through action. This way you then follow through every possibility and investigate it for its weight in gold. Those that are not any good will fall by the wayside and others may bring additional accompanying ideas that would not have come by themselves.
Thinking, listing possible solutions to your predicament is the best way to tick out what will work and what will not work for you. The problem with most people is that we do not think, we rarely sit down and make time to think about solutions. We confuse complaining or talking with thinking, you should think deliberately and in your thinking, think with a pen and note down your ideas as they appear. While a majority of your ideas may not be not be applicable at the present moment, it does not mean that in the future they cannot be used to or that they will not be relevant. Sometimes your thinking can be ahead of your time and if you don’t record your ideas they will be lost.

Napoleon Bonaparte, the great French General is known to have said, “in battle the moral is to the physical three to one.” This statement implies that all things being equal, it will take three enemy combatants to stop a single and properly motivated soldier. ┬áThis means that you too should stay positive to ensure that you continue to generate options and possibilities for your life and your business.

Often people blame their being negative and pessimistic on the fact that life has treated them unfairly. I think life if it is unfair at all treats them as such because first and foremost these people negative and pessimistic. ┬áBeing positive is a way of life, in fact it should be the only way of life, because if your thinking doesn’t work then your life won’t work.
