Modiri Ontitile, 29, was this Friday arraigned before the Urban Customary Court President, Kgosi Dikwalo Monametsi, charged with assaulting his ex girlfriend at Maruapula on December 2, 2006.
Ontitile, who is a Public Relations Officer at the Kalahari Conservation Society, was sentenced to four strokes for the assault to which he pleaded guilty.
Agreed facts are that Ontitile left his house and went to his ex girlfriend’s house in Maruapula where a misunderstanding erupted and Ontitile dragged her ex-girlfriend by her clothes until some by-standers intervened.
Monametsi told the court that Ontitile did not have any right to go and cause trouble at his ex-girlfriend’s house. He ordered him to leave her former girlfriend alone since their relationship had long expired.
He then sentenced him to six months in jail, wholly suspended for three years, plus four strokes on the bum.
