Over the twelve months leading up to August 2024, Botswana’s Pula weakened by 3.9 percent against the South African Rand while gaining 0.5 percent against the International Monetary Fund’s Special Drawing Rights (SDR), according to data from the Bank of Botswana. Among SDR constituent currencies, the Pula appreciated 1.6 percent against the U.S. dollar, 0.9 percent against the Japanese yen, and 0.1 percent against the euro. However, it declined by two percent against the British pound and 1.3 percent against the Chinese renminbi.
