RADs boarding school packed like a slave ship

Remote Area Dwellers who go to Salajwe boarding school are packed in lodging houses like sardines ÔÇô it emerged in parliament this week.

It was revealed in parliament that 88 students sleep in the dining hall and use paraffin lamps for lighting.

Local Government minister said the decision to accommodate male students in a dining hall was meant to ease “congestion in the hostel which has since accommodated 96 female students with an average of twenty-four per block. He said a new RAD hostel for Salajwe had been included in the mid term review of NDP 9 and its implementation is expected in the 2008/9 financial year.

The minister was answering questions from Letlhakeng West MP, Filbert Nagafela.
