The audience at Bull and Bush outside entertainment area will on November 7 witness four of Botswana’s funniest stand-up comedians. They will be treated to hilarity and great silliness from a variety of comics at the final soul food comedy session show. The show promises fireworks as Bull and Bush is a long time prime restaurant, located in the heart of the city.
Hoodwink Entertainment is proud to announce that it will host an unforgettable night of rib cracking comedy. World number one ranking athlete Nigel Amos will be in the spotlight for this final edition of the soul food comedy (SFC) roast sessions, which are aimed at ridiculing local stars and celebrities. Amos is currently the IAAF Continental Cup world leader in the 800m with 1:42.45, as he won in Monaco in one of the greatest 800m races ever seen outside of a championship, and the winner of the IAAF Diamond League.
The concept of a comedy roast is an international norm where a person is subjected to a public presentation of comedic insults, praise, outlandish true and untrue stories, and heart warming tributes as a mock counter to a toast. The implication is that the roastee is able to take the jokes in good humour and not as serious criticism or insult, and it is seen by some as a great honour to be roasted. The individual is surrounded by friends, fans, and well-wishers, who can receive some of the same treatment as well during the course of the evening. The party and presentation itself are both referred to as a “roast.” The host of the event is called the “roastmaster.” Anyone who is honoured in such a way is said to have been “roasted.”
Life has been a roller coaster ride for Nigel Amos. One of the keys to his success is the way that Amos is able to relax away from the track, as he is known for his DJing skills back home in Botswana.
Otherwise known as Dj Zorro, Nigel Amos has felt the brunt of becoming an overnight celebrity. In the process he managed to grip himself one of the hottest Botswana rappers, Sasa Klass. He will be the main subject of great humility, humour and satire. Subject to always being in the limelight, Nigel Amos has had his fair share of bad publicity. Like the time fellow athlete Glody Dube was asked to advise him after he was alleged to have crashed his 2 week old brand new BMW 3-series, after bagging a million from well wishers after successfully returning from the London Olympics with a silver medal. We caught up with Selby Muir of Hoodwink and this is what he had to say: “We’ve had a stellar year and we’re ready to close off the Soul Food Comedy stand-up competition season 2 with a roast of Botswana’s favourite son, Nigel Amos.”
He said that after 2 successful rounds of the SFC sessions including the roast of rappers ATI earlier this year and OZI F TEDDY recently, only four comedians remain left and they will get the opportunity to go in an epic head to head clash in the finals. The scheduled comedians are: Bambino (Umbambi), Charles (Manase), Prince Macheng and Tulani Tau.
Come watch them perform in 3 hilarious, rib cracking rounds as they take turns at the roast of Nigel Amos all night, outside. The audience will also get to enjoy the sounds of: DJ COCO and a debut performance by The Contra bandits, the poetic Mandisa Mabuthoe, the fabulous Debbie with a T, Tafnaz the acoustic Badboy and Jonas Gwangwas grandson, Aether on drums and Bowski the talented the percussionist.
Muir promises to make sure that this show will be the best one you’ve ever been to. You don’t want to miss it! Tickets start from P50 pre-sold at web tickets and P80 on the night.
