Second Cresta Hotel in Maun officially opened

Cresta Maun, a division of Cresta Marakanelo Group and the second Cresta hotel in the tourism town of Maun has been officially opened.

The P70 million facility which is also located along the banks of Thamalakane River was opened by junior minister of Public Administration and Governance Thato Kwerepe.

Speaking at the event graced mostly by competitors in the tourism sector, Cresta Marakanelo Group Managing Director Mokwena Morulane stated that the opening of Cresta Maun has been a great achievement which has over the years only been a dream for the hotel group, which he said is one of the fastest growing hospitality brands in Botswana.

Morulane noted that the decision to have a second hotel in Maun under their brand was derived from the fact that Maun has proven to be one of the fastest growing villages and with too much activity going on almost daily. Its establishment has also heeded to a call for more facilities offering conference services, taking into consideration that all hotels and guest houses in Maun are usually fully booked, more especially during the peak season and during holidays. And with its 76 standard rooms, a presidential suite, an additional five junior suites and a paraplegic room, the hotel is expected to really address the problem of accommodation shortage. Besides offering accomodation, the hotel also offers a conference centre, a state of the art gym, and offers complimentary airport shuttle services as well as daily safari trips to the Okavango delta for those willing to extend their escapades.

For his part, Assistant Minister Kwerepe applauded the Botswana Tourism Organization (BTO) for their support and marketing of the tourism sector and Botswana as a premier tourist destination of choice. He noted that by availing itself, BTO has ensured that tourists from across the world are given top class service, adding that this alone has worked wonders for Botswana as a country, evidenced by the growing number of both local and international visitors who keep coming back. “It is encouraging to note that Cresta’s growth strategy has automatically transformed Maun from just a village to a booming economic zone in the district”.
