At the 3rd annual Redd’s African Fashion Design Awards Finale, held in Lusaka on the 30th of November, when Seneo Moji was announced as the second Botswana designer to win the RAFDA competition, she shed tears of joy, the Zambian Post reported. She dedicated her award to her late father who had passed away before she won the national level competition. “He would have been so incredibly proud that I managed to keep my head high despite the loss of this man whom I was so close to and who always encouraged me never to give up,” Moji said.

“This final Design extravaganza exceeded all our hopes and expectations,” remarked Sesupo Wagamang, National Sales Manager for Kgalagadi Breweries. “We have seen the event grow from strength to strength since we first launched it three years ago, attracting the brightest and best of our aspiring fashion designers. It is an exceptional platform to display the potential of African talent and increasingly is seen as a launching pad for a design career.”

Her dress that emerges elegance and sexiness, brought back to Botswana the RAFDA victory after Mpho Kuaho’s success in Tanzania last year. Back at home, at a press conference at News Caf├® held in her honour she said, “I want to see the award come back to Botswana in 2008 and have identified designers who have got loads of potential, that I am hoping to mentor,” she said.

Moji has established a fashion line that has been operating for 3 years and she said winning the award presents a big opportunity for her and that she hopes to make the best of the experience.
