Sharks Social Football Club (SFC) last week donated an ornamental portrait and P2 000 to Tlogatloga Community Junior Secondary School as a token of appreciation to the school for allowing the club cost free access to the school grounds since 2010.
The framed portrait, valued at P5 000, was customized with the SFC v-necked blue jersey that had been autographed by the team’s players. The school head, Leonard Lekuntwane, said the portrait will join the glitz of memorabilia the school has accumulated from landmark achievements over the years. He expressed appreciation for the team’s benevolent gesture, saying it marks the beginning of a smart partnership between the school, the club and the Gaborone West community.
“The donation depicts enormous goodwill and camaraderie between our school and Sharks FC. This four year relationship demonstrates the spirit of botho in line with Vision 2016,” he said.
For his part, SFC Executive Secretary Tshepo Raboenyana said their donation was part of the team’s response to the adopt-a-school initiative. He thanked the school administration for allowing them access to their playgrounds.
The school Sports Master, Asala Garelemogwe said the P2 000 donation will be used to boost the school’s sporting budget and to purchase floating trophies for school tournaments.
“This will greatly boost the morale of our students in sporting competitions”, Garelemogwe said.
