ST Louis brands scoop coveted Monde Selection Quality Award

Kgalagadi Breweries (Pty) Limited would like to celebrate and share the achievement and success of their popular country brands St Louis Lager and St Louis Export; both of which have been selected to receive a Silver Quality Award at the coveted Monde Selection Awards Ceremony for 2012.

Monde Selection, the renowned International Institute for Quality Selections, has been developed over nearly 50 years and offers the unique expertise to test and analyze consumer goods from all over the world and to grant them an internationally renowned quality award, ranging from a Bronze, Silver, Gold and Grand Gold Quality Award.

Each year, from October to January, products are registered at Monde Selection and over a 4-month period, the Institute calls upon more than 70 internationally renowned experts to evaluate the quality of the products presented.

The Monde Quality Selection follows an intricate process where each quality selection has its own experienced jury that subjects each entry to a rigorous taste evaluation process.

KBL made their debut submission to the Monde Selection this year by entering the country’s best beer brands St Louis Lager and St Louis Export, which ultimately delivered superior performance in terms of product quality and taste; giving testament to an indisputable guarantee of quality to consumers of St Louis Lager and St Louis Export.

For KBL, the Silver Quality Award marks a unique achievement in acknowledgement of their efforts and rightly qualifies St Louis Lager and St Louis Export as production and marketing innovations that offer exceptional value and quality to Batswana consumers. It is envisaged that this Silver Quality Award will further motivate KBL’s marketing and production departments to develop more high quality products.

The Silver Quality Award is therefore an important seal of approval for consumers of St Louis and St Louis Export.

This year was highly competitive as Monde Selection tested and analyzed over 2800 products from over 80 different countries.

Being instantly recognisable, the Monde Quality label provides assurance to the consumer that the product they intend to purchase has been tested and approved by a totally independent professional jury panel to reward companies for their constant efforts in search of high levels of quality control and development of products that constitute a unique selling point on the world stage.
For the evaluation of consumable beverages, Monde Selection collaborates with the best Belgian experts in their respective fields, most of whom are lecturers and chemical engineers at the Institute Meurice which has been a devoted partner of Monde Selection for several decades.

The Institute Meurice is world renowned, since 1897, for its expertise in the Science of Brewing and Fermentation Technology.

Visibly excited, KBL and BBL Managing Director Hloni Matsela said, “I am delighted that the quality and unique attributes of the St Louis family that are so distinctly Botswana have boldly stepped-up to the challenge on the world stage to be singled out as products of exceptional quality by such a coveted standard as Monde Selection.

Commenting on the individual brands, Matsela added that St Louis Lager remains positioned within the “pride and Origins” platforms and that the quality award further cements the brand’s quality proposition that “men who love the best, drink the best”. On St Louis Export he noted that the brand’s quality is inherent in the main ingredient, Crystal Malt.

With Crystal Malt being such a high quality ingredient in the beer, it stands to reason that St Louis Export’s first time entry would garner the brand a medal of international distinction.

This year’s Monde Selection Award Ceremony will be held in Athens on the 4th of June where the results will be formally announced at a Gala Dinner to be attended by over 600 guests to mark the beginning of the three-day celebrations.
