The 51st Annual Grammy Awards excitement kicks off with E! Entertainment’s E! Live from the Red Carpet on Sunday February 8 at 23:59 CAT. DStv audiences can join E! presenters, Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic as they welcome the stars on the red carpet and find out all the showbiz gossip with E!’s Red Carpet experts providing commentary and offering their insight as the night unfolds. This will be followed by DStv’s live coverage of the main event, 51st Annual Grammy Awards on Channel O at 03:00 CAT.
Channel O has secured the rights to broadcast the 51st Annual GRAMMY® Awards telecast giving DStv audiences a front row seat to the live screening of the most prestigious music awards event in the world.
This year’s nominations reflected one of the most diverse years ever with the Album Of The Year category alone representing the rap, R&B, folk and rock genres.
Going head to head in the Best Female R&B Vocal Performance category this year is Beyonce (Me, Myself And I), Jennifer Hudson (Spotlight) and Alicia Keyes (Superwoman).
Lil Wayne tops the nominations with eight, Coldplay garnered seven, and Jay-Z, Ne-Yo and Kanye West each earned six nominations. Alison Krauss, John Mayer, Robert Plant, Radiohead and Jazmine Sullivan received five each while Adele, Danger Mouse, Eagles, Lupe Fiasco, George Strait, and T.I. each received four nominations.
Adele, Leona Lewis, Coldplay and Sara Bareilles are the stand out artists with three nominations each in the pop categories. Rihanna and Madonna are both up for Best Dance Song Award together with Lady GaGa, Sam Sparro and Daft Punk.
Meanwhile Cyndi Lauper, Robyn and Kylie Minogue are competing in the Best Dance Album category. While Lil’ Wayne, Ne-Yo, Coldplay, Radiohead and Robert Plant with Allison Kraus are competing in the Best Album category, with Coldplay being favourites to win the converted award.
