The United Nations has sounded the alarm over the severe impact of the recent U.S. funding freeze on HIV programmes in Botswana warning that critical healthcare services have been thrown into disarray.
In an updated brief seen by Sunday Standard, the UN states that the abrupt termination of financial support has already led to widespread disruptions, particularly affecting Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) that play a pivotal role in HIV prevention and treatment. The brief states that CSOs received termination letters on February 27, cutting off essential funding and leaving service providers unable to operate.
