US long decided to close base Malema wants to topple BDP over

Having long ranted and raved about a United States “air base” in Botswana, Julius Malema, has through his party’s manifesto for the 2024 elections, officialised plans to punish Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) over this matter.

Malema is the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters, South Africa’s second largest political party, which is very popular with black youth. The latter are a significant voter constituency and if they turn out in large enough numbers at next year’s general election, can end the 30-year rule of the African National Congress.
