Europe used to be a fountain of good ideas for the advancement of society. It was a place of great thinkers, strong-willed leaders and good values. The advancement and civilization that Europe created and shared with the rest of the world was also underpinned by Judeo- Christian values. It is a place that gave us thinkers and leaders such as Edmund Burke , Thomas Aquinas , Thomas Hobbes , John Locke , Montesquieu , Adam Smith , Winston Churchill , Margaret Thatcher and St Pope John Paul II to name but a few.
As part of Europe, Britain for its part gave us the Industrial Revolution under which many people were lifted out of poverty and living standards rose dramatically. As a result of the Industrial Revolution, life expectancy rose from a miserly 35 years in years to 70 in the post Industrial age.
Sadly, Europe is no longer brimming with ideas for prosperity and advancement of society. Europe and by extension the Delegation are now steeped in too much post modernism to really teach us anything about good values. The very values which made Europe thrive are under assault each passing day especially in the large metropolitan areas such as London or Paris. Just as Mao experimented with something called the Great Leap Forward in China, Europe is busy with its own Great Leap Backwards, if you like.
Sadly, the historical achievements are being minimised and priority given to the green agenda, LGBQT and abortion. Europe breathes and sleeps climate change. Because they are beholden to the high priests of climate change such as Greta Thunberg and Sir David Attenborough, Europe is prepared to commit economic suicide by phasing out petrol cars and air conditioners in favour of electric cars and heat pumps respectively.
The UK for its part plans to eliminate petrol cars by 2030! The fact that electric cars are beyond the reach of the majority of the population, does not bother them at all. As if that was not enough, science is at the mercy of politics and therefore little time is given to ensuring that the technology for generating renewable energy is fit for purpose. Virtue signaling is now more paramount to Europe than the fate of the majority of people who cannot afford electric cars and heat pumps.
Europe no longer knows the difference between a man and a woman. Biology no longer exists and sex is not biological. Women and men are no longer separate. They claim that when a man declares that he is a woman then he must be so just because he says so. It is an era of moral relativism and there are unintended consequences. The US is also caught up in this gender ideology. A transgender student in Loundon County is currently facing accusations of raping a female student. This is so because of the schools’ bathroom policy which allows transgender students to use female bathrooms. As all this unfolds, Europe wants us to bend a knee and genuflect to this view. If we u don’t, then we are a bunch of intolerant bigots.
As for abortion, the Europe Union holds the view that promoting that act is something good. You are not even allowed to object to abortion on grounds of religion or conscience. This issue which is really about the life of an innocent unborn is not even deferred to the competency of Europe’s nation states. Instead, it is the preserve of the elites in Brussels.
However Botswana is not bound to pay attention to the European Union Delegation on capital punishment when the same body has no qualms about the lives of innocent babies. Capital punishment is a national policy and not EU Delegation responsibility. I know that many Europe states have handed over their sovereignty to unelected EU bureaucrats in Brussels but we should cede ours.
