The one kilometer long road from South Africa’s Derdepoort Border gate near Sikwane in the Kgatleng District leads to the metal bust of Kgosi Linchwe I as it zigzags and makes a steep descend to the gates of the Madikwe Game Reserve. Driving on the road is restricted to 40 kilometers per hour. Overtaking is not allowed. Furthermore, motorists are advised not to cross the bridge on the road when flooded. On the other side of the road, the Madikwe River meanders and forms part of the international boundary between Botswana and South Africa. This is where South Africa’s two provinces of the North West and the Limpopo meet. A sign showing where Limpopo side begins has been tempered with. Creative or dirty minds have removed the first two letters of the province’s name to appear as something totally different. The outcome of the removal of the first two letters is a name which may offend some readers if printed.
