Banks robbed of P22 million in four years

The Minister of Justice and Security Kagiso Mmusi has told Parliament that cash stolen in all heists, bank robberies and ATM blasts amounts to a total of P22.6 million.

“Out of the stolen cash, an amount of Five Million and Ninety-Six Thousand Two Hundred and Eighty-Nine Pula (P5, 096, 289.00) has been recovered and Seventeen Million Five Hundred and Nine Thousand Five Hundred and Forty-Five Pula (P17, 509, 545.00) remains unrecovered,” said Mmusi.

He said although there was an escalation of incidents, currently indications are that there is a downward trend and with concerted efforts by law enforcement agencies, he assured Parliament the country will continue to see a reduction in this crime.
