The Botswana Mining Workers Union (BMWU) has weighed in on a matter in which the liquidator of BCL, Sivalutchmee Moodliar, has warned current and former employees occupying the liquidated company’s houses to shape up or ship out.
This is contained in a letter dated 9th June 2023 from the union’s executive secretary Kitso Phiri addressed to “current & Ex-BCL employees-BMWU families and dependents of Ex-BCL workers, all occupants of BCL Houses-Selibe-Phikwe.”
Phiri states that “On the 26th April 2023, the BCL liquidator issued a sale and asset disposal notice giving all former and current BCL employees priority rights to purchase the houses they are currently occupying before going for auction.”
