BCL scandal about to get worse?

Just when everyone thought Botswana’s biggest transaction scandal – in which government sold BCL copper and nickel mine in a blind offer for less than 1% of its actual worth – could not get any worse, indications are that it just might. Government officials were this week tight-lipped about the boardroom drama unfolding at Mineral Development Company Botswana (MDCB) after board members rebuffed a directive from the Minister of Minerals and Energy, Bogolo Kenewendo to fire the company CEO Matome Malema, in what could mark the lowest point in the BCL scandal.
