BDF defies presidency over allowances

Court records show how for more than a decade, the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) rejected a Presidential Directive that was aimed at paying military nurses overtime allowances.

This week, Francistown High Court Judge Tshegofatso Mogomotsi did not have kind words for the BDF as she accused it of defying a 1998 Presidential Directive to pay nurses their overtime allowances. Justice Mogomotsi was presiding over a 2012 case in which 60 uniformed military nurses had taken their employer to court demanding overtime allowances

Botswana Defence Force is cited as the 1st Respondent, the Defence Council as the 2nd Respondent while the Attorney General is cited the 3rd Respondent.
