BDP stories still fresh in people’s minds

About two weeks after the burial of Sir Seretse Khama in 1980, the Editorial Board at the Daily News encouraged reporters that since a lot had been written about Sir Seretse’s death, concentration should shift to building the new president, introducing him as the president to the nation. The new president was Dr. Quett Masire before he became Sir Ketumile Masire. He had been Sir Seretse’s vice and was sworn in as the president before the funeral.
