BIHL, Global Shapers present gifts to Mathathane school

Representatives of BIHL Group and the Gaborone Hub of the Global Shapers Community recently presented gifts to students at Badale CJSS in the village of Mathathane in a bid to help students get motivated in their studies.

Since 2012, the Global Shapers Gaborone Hub has been supporting Badale CJSS with a particular focus on the annual Prize Giving Ceremony. The BIHL Trust came on as partners for the 2013 ceremony, sponsoring the event to the tune of P10 000.

“We’d like to help students to become more motivated in their studies; therefore the BIHL Trust has this year focused on education with the objective to assist and empower young Batswana,” Gofhamodimo Sechele said of their involvement.

Gifts included 34 trophies (15 for excellence in student leadership), 12 certificates for “Most Well Behaved Students”, medals for students excelling in sports, and books with personalised messages from the CEO of BIHL.

The Gaborone Hub spokesperson, Kalvin Kolanyane-Kesupile, added that as young people given the opportunity to be role models to youth in the country, they are happy to have BIHL Trust’s support with this project. “We are firm believers in nurturing young minds to condition them to be change agents in their communities and country.”

The BIHL Trust has already refurbished the libraries of five primary schools, and identified three more in Kuke, Serinane and Mopipi Villages as their contribution toward “promoting a culture of reading in Botswana’s youth” said Sechele.
