The Botswana National Front (BNF) has reiterated its devotion to the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) project and the path to a new Government for Batswana. “We commit to uphold with distinction our duty and obligation to UDC for its continued stability as a formidable, unbreakable organisation to usher the 2nd Republic,” said party spokesperson Ketlhalefile Motshegwa.
He said BNF highly appreciates and respects BPP, BPF and AP. “We pride ourselves in our mutual, glowing and joyful relationship with these parties. We have respect and trust in the leadership of Cde Boko, Cde Molapise, Cde Gaolatlhe and Cde Reatile and their Central Committees to lead the nation to the new dawn,’ said Motshegwa.
He added that “with great measure of humility, respect, we humble ourselves before the nation to say the UDC is viable, credible organisation to take over from BDP for genuine democracy, economic liberation & empowerment of Batswana.”
Meanwhile the Botswana National Front held its Leadership Consultative Forum on the 10th February 2024 in Tonota to focus on crafting a solid campaign programme or strategy for 2024 general elections as contribution to UDC programme in pursuit of change of Government.
Motshegwa said the forum was attended by Central Committee members, Youth League Central Committee, Women League Central Committee, Chairpersons and Secretaries of Regions and Constituencies, Members of parliament and Councillors.
BNF President Duma G Boko opened the forum emphasising the preparedness of BNF and its partners under UDC to assume state power this year, imploring for hardwork and unity within the party. His opening remarks were followed by administrative updates by Secretary General, Motshegwa who touched on issues of process of primary elections, implementation of BNF strategic plan, the drive for professionalisation of party administration to bring effectiveness, efficiency and efficacy.
There was also a presentation on National Security Framework by Gaolathe Galebotswe to contribute to the policy framework of BNF in preparation for new Government under UDC. The forum was chaired by Vice President Dr Micus Chimbombi.
